Selby & Leo is a maker of atypical Home and Lifestyle products in Dunedin, New Zealand.
The workshop is founder Gerry Managh's happy place. After years of working as a creative for other people’s businesses, Gerry now creates his own brand of products.
Selby & Leo don't actually work there… they're a couple of Gerry's early influencers.
Selby was Gerry's Grandad. He owned a sawmill and had a nice clean workshop in his garage.
Leo was a Great Uncle - an engineer. His under the house workshop had many tools and machines that Leo made himself.
As a boy, Gerry would tinker around in both these workshops and now he has one of his own.
All of Gerry's life has been taken up with creative pursuits and making, in some form or another. From writing and producing radio commercials, to graphic art and photography.
He's been working in earnest as a woodworker for over 10 years now and ascribes to the Japanese craft ethos - It takes a lifetime to become a master.
. . . So by their standards, he should be finished his initial apprenticeship in about another 20 years . . .
